Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships 2023 in Greater Noida from 27 July to 5 August 2023.

Sports Minister Anurag Singh Thakur inaugurated the Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships 2023 in Greater Noida on 27 July 2023.

  1. This is the first time that India is hosting the international weightlifting event.
  2. The championship will witness the participation of over 30 Indian weightlifters, including several Khelo India athletes who recently achieved India’s best-ever performance at the Weightlifting Commonwealth Championships, winning a total of 61 medals.
  3. More than 15 nations from the Asian region will be represented, with around 200 athletes and over 50 technical staff and coaches taking part in the prestigious event.
  4. The Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships will commence on the next day after the inauguration and will conclude on the 5th of August.
