World Environment Day is celebrated every year on 5th June to raise awareness and encourage action to protect our planet. The day is observed to raise global awareness to take positive environmental action to protect nature and the planet Earth.

The United Nations had decided to celebrate World Environment Day, but Environment Day was first celebrated in Stockholm, the capital of Sweden. The first environmental conference was held in Stockholm in 1972, in which 119 countries participated. Celebrating World Environment Day started in 1972. The United Nations celebrated the first Environment Day on 5 June 1972, since then this day has been celebrated every year.
